Building-Up B.V.
Your certified expert for all your inspections

As a QA/QC specialist

For performing "Quality Assurance and Quality Control," we offer quality inspections. Our task is to meet the product and quality requirements of our clients. Some of those tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating, setting up, and conducting inspections
  • Managing Inspection Test Plans (ITP)
  • Visual assessments according to established quality procedures
  • Conducting inspections together with the customer (blacksteel inspections)

As an NDT specialist

Building Up is your certified expert in non-destructive testing, conforming to the global quality standards and requirements of the NEN-EN-ISO 9712.

Certifications of Building-up B.V.

Building-up B.V. holds multiple investigator certifications such as CSWIP 3.1 welding inspector and NEN-EN-ISO 9712:2021 level 2

CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector Certification

CSWIP 3.1 certification is an internationally recognized qualification for welding inspectors. It validates expertise in ensuring compliance with welding codes and standards, inspecting welds for quality and integrity, and interpreting welding symbols and procedures. Building-Up B.V. takes pride in offering this personnel certification, which testifies to our commitment to quality and safety. Whether it's inspecting high structures or performing maintenance on offshore installations, the technicians at Building-Up B.V. ensure safe and effective execution thanks to their CSWIP 3.1 certification.

NEN-EN-ISO 9712:2021 Certification

All specialists working for Building-Up B.V. and conducting inspections are certified according to the NEN-EN-ISO 9712:2021 standard. This international standard is specifically designed for personnel working in non-destructive testing (NDT). Obtaining this certification means our specialists meet the highest quality standards and industry requirements. This ensures that our inspections are conducted accurately, reliably, and safely.

Assurance for our clients

Building-Up B.V. offers you the assurance of competence, product quality, and safety, supported by CSWIP certification. Although this is a personal certification, it is an integral part of our corporate identity and the services we provide.

The CSWIP certification, unlike the VT-w1 & VT-w2 certifications of the past, is accredited by The Welding Institute (TWI). TWI has trained more than 25,000 visual inspectors worldwide, making CSWIP the most recognized certification in the field of visual welding inspection.

With Building-Up B.V. by your side, you can trust that your projects will be carried out by highly qualified professionals who meet the highest international standards.

Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing is a volumetric Non-Destructive method. Unlike surface examinations, UT testing makes it possible to find defects inside the material. High-frequency sound pulses are sent into the material with an ultrasonic transducer. The thickness of the material, such as the wall thickness of piping, can also be measured.

An example of this is that Ultrasonic testing is most commonly used for inspecting materials for internal defects such as (slag) inclusions or porosity.

The consequences of undetected defects can lead to failure of the structure, with potentially dangerous situations as a result. The impact of ultrasonic testing is significant, as it helps to ensure the safety and integrity of structures.

Magnetic Testing

Magnetic testing is a method where a magnetic field is used to detect surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. This includes hairline cracks and fatigue cracks on the surface, as well as porosity and metallic inclusions in the object to be examined.

Undetected defects can lead to structural failure. Therefore, magnetic testing plays a crucial role in the prevention of such incidents by early detection of potential problems.

Penetrant Testing: Detection of Surface Indications and Cracks

Penetrant testing is an essential technique used to detect indications and cracks on the surface of both ferromagnetic (such as carbon steel and iron) and non-ferromagnetic materials (such as copper). It is, for example, useful when inspecting a stainless steel gear for hairline cracks.

The consequences of undetected cracks can be catastrophic, especially in industries such as aviation. Therefore, penetrant testing is crucial in ensuring the safety and integrity of materials and structures.

This technique makes cracks and leaks visible in non-porous materials, allowing for early detection and prevention of potential malfunctions.

Visual Testing

Visual testing is the most direct form of NDT, where visual inspection is used to identify deviations. An example is inspecting a bridge for corrosion. The consequences of overlooked corrosion can lead to reduced load-bearing capacity and ultimately collapse. The impact of visual testing is significant, as it provides a first line of defense against structural problems.
